Sports Equipment Policy 

Faculty, Staff and Students of Carnegie Mellon University Australia are welcome to borrow and use the sports equipment available from reception.  Please note that under no circumstances must sports equipment be used in the courtyard of the Torrens Building.

The following sports equipment is available to borrow:

  • 1 Set of Cricket equipment (2 cricket bats, 4 tennis balls, 1 set of wickets)
  • 1 set of Boule balls (8 silver balls, a carry bag and instructions)
  • 1 set of Softball equipment (bat and ball with a left handed and right handed mits)
  • 1 set of Volley Ball equipment (Net, 2 pegs, hammer, volleyball, carry bag)

Each person can only borrow 1 set of equipment at any time unless an event has been organised by CMU and all bookings must be made with 72 hours (3 days) notice.

Equipment Hire is for 1 day. If borrowed over the weekend it must be collected on the Friday before reception closes and returned by the close of business on the Monday, or Tuesday over long weekends.  Sports equipment can not be borrowed after the last day of classes for the year until orientation at the beginning of the next year.

Carnegie Mellon University and the Lessor of the Torrens Building take no responsibility for any damage or loss to equipment, building or property. Equipment may be borrowed and used in the park lands throughout the city.  The nearest public park is Victoria Square managed by the Adelaide City Council. The Conditions of Use for Park Lands Events from the Adelaide City Council is provided with the booking form.

We have set up a park lands booking arrangements with the Adelaide City Council for 1 year commencing 1 July 2008 with the condition that all bookings must provide 72 hours (3 days) notice. It is important to note that should an event be happening in Victoria Square the use of sports equipment by members of the CMU community will not be possible and that the use of sports equipment should never impact on another group using the park lands. 

PROCEDURE FOR BOOKING SPORTS EQUIPMENT      

1. A Sport Equipment Booking Form is completed and returned to the front office.
2. A confirmation email is sent to the hirer once the booking is completed.
3. Sports Equipment must be collected and signed for by the person who has requested the booking for the equipment.
4. It is the responsibility of the person booking the equipment to ensure that it is returned in the same condition that it was in when it was borrowed. The hirer is liable for any significant damage or loss of the equipment.
